Membership

For even as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ. –1 Corinthians 12.12

The membership covenant of Covenant Life Church is birthed out of our love for the church and its individual members, whom we hope will experience the fullness of joy found in the presence of the Lord. Becoming a local church member is one of life’s most important decisions: the local church is the vessel through which the glory of God and the gospel goes forth among all nations. Given the importance of the church’s mandate to make known the wisdom, glory, and gospel of God, we believe that membership in the local church ought to be God-honoring and meaningful.

Are you interested in exploring Covenant Life Church more and/or pursuing membership? If so, we have a simple four-step process. The process is designed to help you get to know Covenant Life Church and for the church to get to know you. The process for covenanting together with us in membership is as follows:

Taking steps toward membership

Follow the steps below to start our membership process.

1. Attend Foundations

“Foundations” is our introductory membership class that will familiarize you with the particulars of CLC. We provide two options for taking this class, which are available at specific times throughout the year:

  • During our CLI hour (9:00-10:00 am) on Sunday mornings for 6 weeks
  • During one of our weekend sessions
    • Friday night (7:00-9:00 pm)
    • Saturday morning (8:30-11:30 am)

Even if you’re not sure if Covenant Life is the church you desire to become a member of, these classes will give you an understanding of who we are, who we hope to become, what we believe, our church’s covenant, and a host of other things that will be helpful in understanding the “DNA” of Covenant Life Church. Click here to learn more about taking a “Foundations” class.

2. Complete introductions form

The next step is to prayerfully complete and submit the CLC online Introductions form. The link to this form will be emailed to those who have completed the “Foundations” class.

3. Membership conversation with elders

Our leadership desires that each prospective member spend some time with the elders of CLC before joining. This conversation aims to foster community with those desiring membership, provide an opportunity for clarification on anything related to CLC, and formally begin the process of doing each prospective member spiritual good through our care and counsel.

4. Covenant together with the congregation

After completing these three membership steps, the elders will recommend to the church to receive prospective members into membership. Our members are allowed to testify to the work of the gospel in the lives of prospective members. After voting to receive them into the membership of CLC, these prospective members are invited to affirm and sign our church covenant publicly. Upon signing the church covenant, the excitement and privilege of doing life with others in the church begins.
