Genesis 1:3-2:3 – God’s Work of Creation

MEDITATION ON THE SERMON PASSAGE
Read Genesis 1:3-2:3.

In the first chapter of the book of Genesis, you begin to see the gospel and its implications for the people of Israel and for God’s new creation. The same God who prepares and forms and fills the earth and gives his people rest is the One who does the same thing in the history of Israel in bringing his people into the promised land. And it is this same Jesus who is, even now, preparing a place of rest for us. He is the one who has formed us and is preparing us a place to rest. He is the eternal Word, Jesus, through whom all the creative work is accomplished and the same one who stands to save.
