Genesis Summary – Our Powerful and Faithful God
The book of Genesis is the story not of man, not of creation, but of God. It is the story of the One who completely and perfectly created all things. It is his story about how he put everything in its place and put man in it to enjoy him and to glorify him forever. And though we rejected that plan and chose to go our own way, God demonstrates his grace first of all to man in that despite our rebellion, he does not strike us down. Instead, our compassionate God sets into motion his plan for the redemption of wayward man. A plan we see over and over again not fulfilled because of the remarkableness of man because of the outrageous grace and the all-exceeding power of our glorious God.
Throughout the book of Genesis, we see God working through his chosen people. Though man would seek to frustrate God’s plans through weakness and faithlessness and sin, we see God working and moving to redeem those people and those situations to accomplish his purposes. There is nothing that man could do to unravel his plan, and throughout the annals of history until today, there is nothing man can do stand in the way of the good and perfect plans of God.
Over and over again throughout the book of Genesis, we see the marvelous faithfulness of God on display. A faithfulness towards sinners like us that is lavished on us despite our failure. No, Genesis is certainly not the story of man or of our beginnings. It is the story alone of our good and glorious and perfect and faithful and marvelous God.

And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.”
