CLC Ministering Cross-Culturally
And to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed. – Daniel 7:14
Mark your calendars for Saturday, February 22. From 8:30 am to 1:00 pm, CLC is offering a new class designed to equip people with an understanding of how to better engage with differing cultures and worldviews. We pray that our Ministering Cross-Culturally class will be a fruitful time of learning, and benefit the mission-minded men and women who are able to attend.
With so many vastly different cultures around us, it is important to know how our own environment and surroundings affect the way we learn from, communicate with, and foster relationships with others. During the class several topics will be introduced, including overcoming common barriers and obstacles related to cross-cultural outreach and gospel sharing.
Doug Hess has arranged some tips to help us respectfully and effectively reach other cultures and ethnicities with the Gospel of Christ—to be applied to our own backyard of Tampa and through foreign missions. Some fun, global-minded activities are also planned, to help offer attendees practical ideas for reaching neighbors from other countries, cultures, and religions.
The Hess family has experience as international missionaries. Now as a flight paramedic, Doug continues traveling worldwide, offering medical repatriation and relocation services to patients. “One of the most difficult parts of relating cross-culturally,” he says, “is understanding our own cultural expectations that we aren’t even fully aware of.”
CLC will provide light breakfast foods, and an optional lunch can be included for $5 per person. Please RSVP by contacting Drew Tucker before Sunday, February 16. We hope to see you there!
