Created – Restoring Vulnerable Women

Our city is second in the state of Florida…

Our city is fifth in the United States….

Our city has over 90 strip clubs….

Our city is rampant and falling into great temptation…

For the last six years, a local ministry called Created has met the vulnerable women of our city on the dark streets, to share with them the hope and grace of Jesus. Psalm 139 assures us that we are created for more because we were created by and for God.

For you formed my inward parts, you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.

Their heart as a ministry is to proclaim the redemptive work of Jesus Christ and the hope found in the gospel everywhere they go, even on the dark streets. Keisha Polonio, the Executive Director of Created said,

 “We take what we know about Jesus to the streets of our city. The reality is, Jesus is already on those streets. We just get to participate in what He’s already doing. We go home at the end of the night but Jesus is still there on the street with those women. It’s scary at time but it’s worth it for the sake of the gospel, for the sake of a Father who loves these women deeply.”

God is using Created to do amazing things in our city, to rescue women out of their slavery and provide them a place of refuge. While the women are in Created’s care, they are placed in community where they can build friendships with other women. They are given help to deal with addiction and sexual brokenness. And most importantly, they are introduced to Jesus.

As believers, we are called to love the least of these. We are called to pursue these women in humility just like Christ pursues us. So how can we do that as a church?

First by prayer.

• Pray for outreach on the street and in the clubs.
• Pray they would connect to God’s heart and for his will to be done.
• Pray for the women on the street to be open and ready to talk.
• Pray for the women in the residential program to heal and press into Jesus.
• Pray for protection from the lies of the enemy.
• Pray for funding. That more people would connect financially to these missionaries to the city.
• Pray for the staff. That they do not grow weary in doing good and remain completely reliant on the Spirit.
• Pray that the Lord would bring volunteers who are ready and right, and who have been discipled.

Second by serving.

• We can make care packages for the women.
• We can make a meal for their Friday night Bible Study and eat with them.
• We can volunteer on Street Outreach.
• Men, you can drive on Street Outreach.
• We can transport women to their appointments.
• We can talk about Created with other churches and believers in our city.
• We can host a dessert night with the church to introduce Created.
• We can PRAY.

If you knew your brother and sister were missing, wouldn’t you go and look around for them? You would search high and low for them until they were found. That’s what Created does. They go, look and find women who are lost. There is a man waiting for them to come home. His name is Jesus.

Let’s do this with them, Church! Let’s fight to see Jesus restore our hurting city.
